WEC has blown up on the VS channel. World Extreme Cagefighting is an up-and-coming fight orginization that had such a buzz around it that the UFC swallowed it up. The UFC repackaged it and poured in a ton of money and has unleashed it on the world. WEC features mainly lighter fighters and divisions overlooked by other orginizations. The 145lb division features champion Urijah Faber who at 19-1 is not only dominating his division, but makes a strong case for best pound for pound fighter in the world. This kid is a monster. Youtube him.

Spearking of WEC, I've been watching a ton of TV lately. Here's a few things I've got my Tivo recording: The Sopranos (mob-drama, duh), Deadliest Catch (crazy Alaskan crab fishers), Entourage (Sex in the City for guys), The Ultimate Fighter (UFC's reality show building the next 155lb fighter), Stargate SG-1/Atlantis (two of the best sci-fi shows on TV, based on the Kurt Russell movie), Big Brother UK (British reality show, thanks internet). Wow thats a ton of stuff!

I'm not a huge fan of racing games, but DiRT just looks unbelievable. The demo allows you to play through one course as many times as you like, and even though it plays very well, the graphics are the real star of this game. I don't have a HD TV and this still looks better than any video game I've ever seen. Speaking of the Xbox 360, I still really suck at Halo 3.

Wow where did the month of May go? The last two weekends have been a whirlwind with James and Angie's wedding last weekend and my best friends from high school were in the weekend before. I've added a bunch of new pictures to Family and Friends 2 and Guitar Heroes. I'm hoping to reorganize the fam and friends section into seperate years, when I find time.

James and Angie's wedding was at Alley Springs which made for a beautiful backdrop. Anytime I can find an excuse to go to Eminence and see my family I'm all for it, the wedding and reception was just a major bonus.

I saw Shrek 3 awhile ago with Joe, Hilary, and KG. The movie was entertaining, and since we saw it for $4, definitley worth the price of admission. If you really enjoyed the first two than you will enjoy this one as well, but don't expect anything new or ground-breaking. Same old jokes, just a different storyline.

The trailer for Assassin's Creed looks siiiiiick, and its supposedly all game footage. The short cliplooks better than most movie previews that I've seen. From wiki: "The game takes place during the Third Crusade, in the year 1191. The gamer plays as a member of the assassin sect Hashshashin known as Altaïr, whose objective is to assassinate the nine historical figures who are propagating the Crusades, and end the suffering of the people. As the gamer finds and kills these targets, their conspiracy is unveiled. The player will be able to travel through three cities, Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus."

After a week with the Halo 3 beta, I have to be honest, I haven't found much time to play it. The game is just sort of ok, its basically Halo 2 with better graphics. To compound the problem is the fact most everyone you will play with online is already five times better than you. Its very competitive in the multiplayer mode. One saving grace that might make me actually purchase the game is the rumor that Halo 3 will feature 4-player cooperative play, which would be pretty dang cool.

Have I mentioned I love viral marketing? The buzz has started for the next Batman movie. Apparently the Joker has hacked attorney Harvey Dent's website. Speaking of the Joker check out these creepy pics of Heath Ledger in costume.

I saw Spiderman 3 this weekend. It was pretty decent, the action scenes were very impressive, and I love all the new characters they introduced. Unfortunately the movie could have been easily 4 hours long with all the material they tried to jam into the film. Realistically they should have removed 2-3 of the storylines and the movie would have been much better.

Time to start the countdown for Guitar Hero 3. The first wave of tracks set to debut in the next version has just hit the internets. It looks like they're mixing rock classics with newer hits from bands like Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins, and Muse. I can't wait!

Update: New Transformers trailer. WOW kee-koo-koo-cha.

Update 2: Starcraft 2 is official. Tell me you don't get chills at the very end of this video.

Me and my posse went to Eminence over the weekend for what KG calls "relaxation at the Country Spa". We drove down Friday night missing most of the lake traffic on 44. We took a bag lunch from Dairy Shack to Alley Springs, then had a cookout at my Aunt's house. She introduced us to a new way of BBQ'n chicken on the grill using a beer can, she calls it drunken-chicken. The trip was a blast and except for one casulaty (Kg's rabbit-bear FeeFee) everyone had a great time.

Congratulations to Justin, Kristy and their new son Mason! Justin is going to be a great dad, but I can't see him really being the "bad cop" in the Good Cop/Bad Cop father/mother relationship. That kid is going to be so spoiled. I garauntee he'll have his own iPod (w/ Best Buy service plan) before he hits Kindergarten.

I added a new feature to the website. I created an account with Twitter, a website where you can blog via cell phone or IM. You can send short little blogs to Twitter and it updates your badge.

This CD is a MUST for any fan of Elliot Smith. Its a 2-CD collection of some of his unreleased works. Sirius has been playing a few of the songs, and they're REALLY good. I've heard just a couple of the tracks, and if these had been released previously they would have been sure-fire hits on mainstream radio. Check out High Times here, the first single to be released.

A funny little fact: The Free Paris Hilton petition has 19,881 signatures while The Jail Paris Hilton petition has 40,237. I believe the people have spoken, lock that b**** up!

Aaron and I saw Hot Fuzz over the weekend. Its the follow-up to the zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead. Much like their parody of the zombie genre in Shaun, this film takes aim at action, Police dramas and hits the target with tons of great inside jokes throughout. The tongue-and-cheek nature of the flim and the references to classics like Point Break and Bad Boyz 2 make for a gut busting good time. If you liked their first film or if you are looking for something different, check this movie out.

I cannot wait to see 28 Weeks Later. Judging from the trailers, this one looks to pickup right where the original (28 Days Later) left off, and should be just as intense. I wasn't a huge fan of the zombie genre until seeing this on DVD and it was only after some convincing from friends did I agree to see it. I instantly fell in love with the sheer intensity generated by film. The apocalyptic fallout from a biolgocial experiment gone wrong sets up for an interesting scenario as the few survivors band together to try and make it through the day. Their struggle makes for a psychologically stimulating thrilride, and really makes you think what you would do in that stiutation. Go see this movie when it hits theatre, its a no-brainer!

A funny parody of 300 featuring the charactes from Super Mario.

I started reading DC Comic's Infinite Crisis this week. The catalysmic events set into motion last year, reset most of the main storylines in the DC Universe. I wasn't a big fan of Comics until I started playing VS and I still refuse to buy actual comics, The trade paperbacks which collect several issues together are great reads, and make for easier collection of key story lines.
