| When
I first played Max Payne, I loved it immediately. The game is what you would
get if you mixed Die Hard with the Matrix. You really feel like you are
playing an interactive movie. The multiple guns, the endless supply of bad
guys to kill, and the innovative Bullet-Time game play really makes for
a fast paced thrill ride.
You play the role of Max Payne, a cop who was kicked off the force and has turned renegade after finding his family brutally murdered. Max travels through the various urban landscapes looking for answers, killing everything that comes across his path. My favorite weapon to use is the Twin Uzis. The fully automatic Uzis rip through bad guys like a Rosie O’Donnell ripping through a bag of Doritos. Whenever Max is low on health, you of course, pop a Payne Pill and his health goes back up to normal. What really sets Max Payne apart from other story based shooter games is the bullet-time feature. Max has the ability to react to events in slow motion, diving around corners watching the bullets slowly zoom through the air. When you come to a sticky situation you can just toggle Max into bullet-time and carefully and precisely aim and shoot the bad guys. The game very closely resembles the Matrix in that aspect. The game is a lot of fun and it will keep you entertained for hours, but don’t look for something that you will want to play all month, after all, the Reiter brothers finished it in one 24 hour period. |
