This movie was pretty pimp for its time. It had some sweet ass special effects, like the house spinning through the air, or the witch lighting the straw dude on fire. Man, she was evil. I mean, these days, it isn’t politically correct to have a bad guy in a movie who is just bad for the sake of being bad. Man, the witch didn’t give a crap about politically correct. She was just evil. Not because it was cool, not because she was treated bad as a kid. No. She doesn’t need a reason. That is the wicked witch of the West. Nobody in their right mind can sympathize with her. And that’s the way she likes it. Come to think of it, I can’t even think of what her motivation was. She just wanted to get people into positions where she could do her pimp witch laugh and watch them squirm with fear. That’s evil. Pimp evil.

Using an hourglass is evil too. And she thought it was funny. In fact, she was laughing the whole movie, if I remember correctly. Come to think of it, maybe she was the good guy. She seemed to have a really positive outlook on life, while Dorthy was just complaining about her situation the whole time. “I wanna go home, I wanna go home ..” blah blah blah. That wicked witch was just trying to teach that brat a lesson.

And then we have Dorthy’s minions. The scared cat, the hay dude, and the guy who missed his calling as a stormtrooper in Star Wars. Man, he would have been PIMP in Star Wars. He doesn’t have a heart. He’d be a cruel, cold, killing machine. Unstoppable. He could kill an Ewok and not even blink. Dorthy was smart to pick him for a bodyguard. She liked him that way, which is why she lies, and tricks him at the end into thinking that he already has a heart. She’s evil too.

I’d say the only good guy was the wicked witch of the East. She was trying to balance the power that the fat witch had over the Ewoks. Dorthy lands and kills her, because Dorthy is evil. Then the fat witch comes out and starts telling everyone what to do. She makes the Ewoks sing and dance all day long, whether they want to or not. Now, nobody can stop her. It almost brings a tear to my eye.

Anyway. Watch this movie with your kids or something. Just make sure they know who the REAL bad guys are.
